My personal health journey
Imagine sitting on a rooftop, eating fresh, sweet tropical fruit.
Feeling the wind mess up your hair, you can't stop smiling and you feel content with life.
Seems like a pretty good life, right?
Let me tell you, this was not always the case.
When I started working in hospitality in my early twenties, I implemented the lifestyle. You know the drill: late nights, irregular working hours, rich food and too much alcohol.
While I thought I was enjoying myself, weight started creeping up and my mental health was declining.
For a number of years, I became so depressed, the thought of getting out of bed seemed too much of a task.
In 2010, I moved to Ireland and decided something had to change. I started studying nutritional therapy and how food is information to your health and wellbeing. I started losing weight slowly, which resulted in less back pain, more energy, improved skin and better digestion. On top of this I became aware that my mental health was improving!
So, I went out to investigate this further and, with a lot of hard work, I now feel the best I've ever felt, physically and mentally.
Over the years, I have learned to be comfortable with my own company, choose to have people around me that give me energy instead of drag me down, take time for self-care and continuously work on my physical and mental fitness.
I now wish I started this journey years ago.
